The Department of Human Services provides a competitive salary, contractual pay increases and opportunity for advancement!The employee in the Energy Assistance Worker position is responsible for determining eligibility for Pennsylvania's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in accordance with state and federal regulations. Positions are filled in Department of Human Service Offices across the Commonwealth where you will interact with customers either face to face or via telephone.This is a full-time seasonal position that typically runs from September through April to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance. Positions are filled in Department of Human Service Offices across the Commonwealth.Duties:As Energy Assistance Workers you will be processing initial benefit applications as well as CRISIS applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This is a full-time, seasonal position that runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.After receiving on-the-job training, you will be performing various duties such as interviewing clients, acting as a liaison with heating vendors, reviewing and completing applications received in order to recommend approval or disapproval of benefits consistent with Federal and State Regulations. The majority of this job is completion work through data entry.Work assignments are limited in scope and performed under the close supervision of an Income Maintenance Supervisor who reviews work for completeness, accuracy and adherence to program regulations. You may perform other related duties as assigned.Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.In order to be eligible for this position you must:
