Hershey Medical CenterLocation: US:PA:HersheyWork Type: Full TimeFTE: 1.0Shift: NightsHours: 40 hours/week, rotate weekendsJoin a team of Laboratory professionals providing high quality diagnostic and clinical services that play a vital role in positive outcomes for our patients!JOB SUMMARY:The Technical Lab Associates are responsible for receiving laboratory specimens (blood and other body fluids), insuring specimen identity and acceptability, and entering orders for laboratory testing into the Lab Information System. Lab Associates also enter patient demographic and insurance information into the patient registration system and prepare specimens for analysis. They respond to telephone inquiries and provide information related to specimen requirements, test availability, specimen testing status, and laboratory results. In addition, the technical lab associates prepare specimens for referral to outside reference laboratories and insure that all storage requirements are met.The Specimen Processing Area (SPA) is responsible for receiving and processing approximately 9200 patient specimens daily.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Training up to 18 months beyond the high school level or equivalent knowledge required.Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it is equivalent to CLIA requirements. The equivalency evaluations will be performed by a nationally recognized organization. Ex: National Association Credential Evaluations Services, Inc. (NACES), the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE).
