The Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering duties including planning, designing tools engines, machines, and other mechanical equipment. The Mechanical Engineer will oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of such equipment on centralized heat, gas, water and steam systems. Candidates with fire suppression experience are highly desired.The Mechanical Engineer will assist in researching, developing, designing, manufacturing and testing tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. They will work on power-producing machines including electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines. The Mechanical Engineer will also develop powering using machines that will include refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment and robots that are used in manufacturing. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performs engineering duties such as planning and designing tools, engines, machines and other mechanical equipment. Oversees installation, maintenance and repair of such equipment on centralized heat, gas, water and steam systems. Be a liaison with the Depot Fire Department.RequirementsJOB REQUIREMENTS: A Mechanical Engineering Degree is required in addition to at least five (5+) years of Mechanical Engineering experience Prior experience in Fire Suppression systems is required. Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a teamSECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.Securing and maintaining a Common Access card (CAC) is a requirement for all positions at this location.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of the minimum standards an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
