IT Manager, Telecommunications

in the

Altoona, PA

area.Position OverviewThe IT Manager, Telecommunications reports to the Director of Infrastructure, and is responsible for the day-to-day management and support of the company’s telecommunications and telephony systems. Manages four call centers, with up to 100 agents, located in multiple states in the U.S. The primary focus of this position will be ensuring the availability, health, and performance of the systems supporting the company’s call center and network. In addition to being a very hands-on role, this position will also be responsible for managing the work and performance of a Telecommunications Support through 3rd party companies. Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the management and support of all telephony systems, services, and telecommunications circuits
  • Plan and oversee installations and upgrades associated with telephony environment
  • Ensure the highest availability and performance of the call center systems, including Cisco and associated systems
  • Continuously explore opportunities to introduce improvements to service availability and quality
  • Work very collaboratively with other IT teams
  • Work very collaboratively, and foster a strong rapport, with the call center teams to drive the business value of telephony services
  • Help develop and implement an enterprise-wide voice telephony strategy with a focus on unified communications
  • Manage relationships with telecom vendors and carriers
  • Work with telecom billing management service provider to ensure invoices match contracted rates and usage
  • Manage and perform MAC (Moves, Adds, Changes) work associated with the telecommunications environment.
  • Assign tasks to and oversee performance of direct report(s)
  • Provide management and support of faxing services
  • Provide management and support of camera services where appropriate
  • Provide support for projects and other activities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of systems, data center and remote office infrastructure experience with a proven track record of excellent customer service skills. In lieu of formal degree, certifications and previous work experience will be considered.
Specific experiences include:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of telecom administration experience, with at least 5 years in a call center environment
  • Strong background in call center systems. Extensive experience with Cisco telecommunication systems and associated certifications.
  • Strong background in traditional and IP-based telephony technologies
  • Very good problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to analyze and determine root cause
  • Familiar with IP network routing and switching technologies
  • Familiar with Windows Server and Linux Operating Systems
  • Ability to compile operating data/statistics and prepare performance reports
  • Work closely with call center management and staff to address and resolve telecom related issues
Preferred Experience
  • 4-year college or technical degree preferred
  • A strong background working in an IT Operations environment is recommended
