Freelance Legal Videographer Lehigh Valley & 200 Mile Radius

Pennsylvania, Lehigh valley 00000 Lehigh valley USA

Vacancy caducado!

Hello, we are looking for a locally based, qualified candidate with video production experience, specifically live audio and video recording who would be available 4-5 days a week. Ideally, more than 50% of the jobs will be locally in the Allentown/Lehigh Valley area, however, the area needed to be covered would be from Harrisburg to north jersey, west to east. Scranton to Philly north to south. Equipment will be provided for the right candidate.

If you feel you are a qualified candidate for this position, please reply to the application by:

1. Replying to this ad with the hiring questionnaire below completed.

2. Providing your camera model type & any other necessary gear needed for the job that you may have, listed in detail in the questionnaire below.

WE WILL NOT REPLY TO APPLICATIONS WITHOUT A COMPLETED QUESTIONAIRRE. THIS SAVES BOTH THE APPLICANT AND OUR COMPANY A LOT OF TIME BY ANSWERING MANY QUESTIONS FOR BOTH SIDES. WE GREATLY VALUE YOUR TIME

Pay is $25/hr, with a minimum of $75 for any jobs that are 3 hours or less. Pay starts at arrival, and is rounded up in 30-min increments from ending minute of the deposition. Most jobs average 6-8 hours, but there are definitely jobs that go 12-14 hours, as well as super short jobs with the $75 minimum. Travel is also reimbursed at $0.50/mile. All parking and tolls will be reimbursed 100% with receipts.

We ask if you could kindly be patient if you do not hear back from us right away. We archive all applications and may contact you in the future, even if you don't hear back from us within a month. We do strive to reply to all applications within a month of receiving them, but as a small company, there is only so much time! We hope you understand.

There are 2 important pieces of information to note before reading this detailed job description.

VIDEO-CAMERAS ONLY, NO DSLRs.

1. Please DO NOT reply to this job offer if your video camera is DSLR, as DSLRs CAN NOT be used in this application. Video-cameras only, memory cards preferred, but Mini-DV tapes are also accepted in 80-83 min format. This industry is actually shot in 4:3 SD mostly, believe it or not, with occasional HD requests. Tape cameras get the job done for the most part, although changing tapes every 60 or 80 minutes is a slight inconvenience to our clients, the attorneys. Many HD-only cameras are very usable for this job, as long as they send a side cropped 4:3 image with time/date stamp being the only On-screen display data that is visible, on the RCA output. This output will create an SD DVD on site, which is actually a master recording for this job, with the memory card file or mini-dv tape on the camera being a back up recording. DVDs do occasionally fail, so it is crucial the back up media recording is 110% as well.

TRAVEL

2. Applicants must have reliable transportation to jobs, and be willing to travel to cover a surrounding 200 mile radius, if needed. Travel compensation is paid at $0.50/mile or occasionally flat rates are pitched to the videographers such as "can you cover this job tomorrow, $75 flat rate travel plus parking". All of our shooters enjoy travel as part of this job, or at least don't mind it. If traveling is a hassle, this job is not for you.

We are a rapidly expanding national legal videography agency based out of Philadelphia, PA. We currently have 60+ videographers who cover Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Ohio, Maine, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, California, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Texas.

The position is freelance contractor work, part-time. Some videographers only work once a month, some in more expanded markets work 5 days a week. Job notifications typically occur only 24 hours in advance, which only works out well for true freelancers. Some weeks you may work 0 days, others you may work 5 days, all depending on the jobs out there from our clients. Our shooters typically have a flexible work schedule and could be able to accept jobs on short notice, typically only 24-hour notice.

The recording &; production of legal video depositions is the most frequent assignment for this position, about 95% of the work, but you will occasionally also produce still photography requests, webcam deposition streaming, etc. Also, with additional training, you may eventually be working in-court video playbacks, trail presentations, etc. These jobs require a few months of deposition shooting experience, as well as additional detailed training.

The greatest pro of this job: There is never any post-production, ever. Depositions are a 100% live production. You work hours, you get paid for hours, plain and simple. This will not eat into your personal time otherwise, with unknown amounts of unpaid post-production, like many freelance video fields that we all also work in. We want all videographers on our team to enjoy every aspect of this job, never feeling like they are putting in "unpaid time".

As mentioned above, applicants need to have a reliable vehicle for transportation to jobs that may come up within a 200 mile radius, although most are in not nearly that far. We try to schedule the closest available shooters to the location of the shoots, but on busy days, or days that many shooters are unavailable, we may request you drive a bit further to cover whatever is necessary. Mileage will be reimbursed at agreed upon flat rates or $0.50/. All parking will be reimbursed for every job with receipt submission, regardless of the distance from the videographer's starting location.

The rate is $25/hr, including pay for the 1 hour required set up time before the job start time. If you arrive at 8am for a 9am start job, and the job goes til 4pm, billing is 8am-4pm, 8 hours, $240. End times for billing are based on ending minute of the job, and rounding up in 30 minute incriments. For instance if a job ends at 5:31pm, it is rounded up til 6:00pm billing. However if it ends at 6:00pm, it is billed the same til 6:00pm. If it goes til 6:01pm, it get rounds up to 6:30pm billing.

Training varies, depending on applicants' experience levels, as well as familiarity with all gear involved. All applicants will need to be trained over the phone or via skype/facetime for approximately 2 hours. This process will include watching sample videos, going over sample documents, reviewing SOPs and policies, and much more, based off of a training folder that applicants will be be sent. If necessary, there may be a half days of unpaid training, on site at depositions, observing another videographer. We consider this a minimal investment of your time for a job that will yield frequent freelance work and good pay, for years to come. If this not possible for you, we completely understand, but you are absolutely correct that this job is not right for you. We are looking for individuals who display dedication and motivation from the start, so this can build into a long-term relationship. Our company is based on solid communication skills & positive attitude, with a known ambition to be better than the competition, in every way.

W are looking to hire only videographers with the following requirements:

- Shoots time & date stamp (It must shoot the video image and time/date stamp out of the RCA/Fire wire OSD ports, but preferably also prints time/date onto the MINI-DV tape or memory card file, as well.) Many cameras will NOT shoot only the image, time and date stamp and 4:3 on the RCA out, and the only way to check is to physically plug your camera into a monitor/TV to find out. 8/10 applicants say their camera does this, then find out upon test that it does not. Please test to make sure! :-)

- Has the capability to record up long periods of time without stopping, minimally 80 minutes for tape cameras. Some jobs are 12 hours long, although average is 4-5 hours.

There is also other equipment needed to perform this job besides a camera nd fluid head tripod, that totals about $600 average, depending on which specific models will be in your pack. Details of that equipment are listed in the questionnaire below, question #10.

It is extremely important to the company that all shooters we bring on board are in this for the long run, and want to help expand the company with being the best in the business. It is extremely important that we only hire team members who are extremely outgoing, polite, and pride themselves in not only a job well done, but a job done better than any other competitor. We get work because we are the best, not just because the job gets done.

If you are a qualified candidate, please reply to the application by

1. Filling out the hiring questionnaire below

2. Attaching your resume/work history (not required)

3. Providing your camera model type & any other gear that you may have, listed in the questionnaire below

Thanks for your time! We look forward to speaking with you soon!
