The Office of Child & Family Services (OCFS), within DHHS is responsible for ensuring the safety, permanency and well-being of children and families through community networks, local resources, and life-long family connections throughout Maine. We have a current vacancy in our Portland office.Job duties:As an OCFS Office Assistant II you will perform a broad range of administrative tasks in support of Child Welfare managers, supervisors and staff. Your duties will include but are not limited to:

Photocopying, faxing, mail processing and answering the switchboard.

Processing emergency Preliminary Protection Orders when it is necessary to take a child into State custody.

Preparing legal papers for C1/C2 hearings.

Tracking upcoming court cases.

Entering information concerning new providers/vendors into State information systems.

Preparing client files/folders.

Direct client contact for gathering familial information, making appointments and making transportation arrangements.

Processing case closings and transfers.

Providing front desk coverage and reception duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:To qualify, you must have training, education or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:

competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks.

the ability to use independent decision making on: processing information, following appropriate processes, and taking action in accordance with standard procedures.
