Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Inspector

Local A/E Design and Inspection firm is seeking an qualified inspector and/or engineer. The position includes inspecting new MEP system installations as well as evaluating existing buildings for proper performance. Building types include multi-family and commercial.

Applicants must be self-motivated, willing to learn, have a strong work ethic, possess a customer service attitude and be able to perform the following job requirements:

Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes (electrical is a plus).

Experience in designing and/or inspecting HVAC systems in multi-family and commercial buildings.

Inspection of residential and commercial buildings. This may involve ladders, manlifts, scaffoldings, roof and crawlspace access.

Document observed conditions (comprehensive field notes and photographs).

Proficiency in reading and understanding construction documents (plan and specifications).

Draft inspection reports of observations and findings.

Preparation and presentation of spreadsheets, graphical charts, reports and other written documents.

ICC Certifications or professional licensing in architecture or engineering is required.

Solicit and facilitate bidding by qualified contractors of the approved Scope of Repair.

Carry out periodic inspections and documentation of the ongoing repair work.

Issue construction field directives for out-of-scope work, unforeseen conditions or to clarify the project design and specifications.

Participate in and/or lead out project meetings.

Communicate with clients and other design, insurance and legal professionals.

Review and evaluate change order proposals and contractor's pay applications.

Experience in preparing design documents in AutoCad and producing and editing specifications is preferred.

Knowledge, experience or a desire to research and learn building envelope assemblies (siding, roofing, weather-resistive barriers (WRB), flashings, waterproof membranes, etc.)
