Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife - HIRING NOW (76627 Lookingglass Rd, Elgin, OR)

Oregon, East oregon 00000 East oregon USA

Vacancy caducado!

This position will go on from AugustÂ13thÂthrough August 23rd

NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) is an agency of the government of the state of Oregon. It is responsible for programs protecting Oregon fish and wildlife resources and their habitats. The agency operates hatcheries, issues hunting and angling licenses, advises on habitat protection, and sponsors public education programs. Its history dates to the 1878 establishment of the office of Columbia River Fish Warden.

Oregon clips more than 40 million adipose fins each year to help fishermen distinguish between catch-able and protected fish. Clipping off the adipose fin to mark hatchery-grown fish is common practice in Oregon and across the Northwest.

Position Description: The Mass Marker position is responsible for working with hatchery-raised fish to ensure that they are properly marked. To accomplish this, the Fin Clipper removes the hatchery fish's adipose fin to distinguish it from wild fish. The work is conducted in a specialized trailer on-site at the fish hatchery and the selected Associates must be comfortable working in an unheated trailer at the fish hatchery and working with fish.

Shifts/schedule: Many to choose from! (Mornings and Nights)

Pay: $12.50 - $14.00 (Depending on Experience)
