A family-owned grass seed farm in western Oregon is looking for a head mechanic and farm foreman.
Duties Include:
-Act as farm manager in President’s absence
-Manage day to day tasks of shop assistant(s)
- Manage/run a harvest crew during harvest season
-Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
-Weld and fabricate as needed
-Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
-Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles.
-Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools.
-Communicate regularly and effectively with employees and leadership
-Record details of repairs made and parts used.
-Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools
Must be a proficient heavy equipment mechanic. The preferred candidate has experience with combines, swathers, tractors, etc.
Salary DOE. Medical, vision, and retirement account available after a 90-day probation period. On-site housing and profit-sharing possible for the ideal candidate after the probation period.
