STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years' experience as a consulting engineer providing design and project management of commercial, industrial, and multifamily projects.

Specific qualifications and abilities should include:

A solid understanding of structural design and construction standards, and environmental conditions / constraints

Experience with structural design of commercial and industrial buildings

A proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets

Demonstrated skills developing relationships with local municipalities and utilities

Flexibility and creativity in engineering approaches

Proficient skills in AutoCAD, Enercalc, Ram Elements, RISA3D, Revit and Microsoft software applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook) required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management

Negotiating, supervisory, and leadership skills

Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities

The ability to think methodically and to manage projects

Familiarity with local code requirements (Preferred)

Experience with civil design and Civil 3D desirable

The duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Plan, administer, and design small to medium size structural projects

Perform technical structural analysis and calculations

Prepare construction documents and administration

Analyze, design, and draft (or oversee drafting) for a range of project types utilizing concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structures.

Manage design staff on project tasks

Provide leadership in efficient and constructability design of structural projects

Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction and all client objectives are met

Participate in business development opportunities

Participate in professional organizations and functions

Mentor young professionals

Estimate and budget labor hours for design projects; review job costing reports

Work directly with our Principal/s, staff, and project managers

Potential for site visits when needed/required

Physical Demands: Assignments involve office work entailing periods of intense concentration while working on problems, reports, calculations, etc. The position also requires good physical conditioning for review, inspection, and construction work in the field. May require some lifting of equipment 25-45 pounds.

Work Environment: Environment varies from working in a heated or air-conditioned office to performing outside assignments in summer and winter months. Outside work terrain may involve brushy, wet, steep, rocky terrain or rough or flat arid desert or grasslands. Travel in snow, rain, or on muddy roads may create hazardous driving conditions. Travel to remote sites may be required.

Requirements of the Position:

Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering

Master's in Structural Engineering preferred but not required

Professional registration (Washington and/or Oregon PE minimum or ability to obtain by comity), licenses in other states a plus

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license
