CIVIL ENGINEER

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years’ experience as a civil engineer providing design and project management of land development and municipal projects.

Specific qualifications and abilities should include:

Experience as a Professional Engineer

A solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions / constraints

A proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets

Demonstrated skills developing relationships with local municipalities and utilities

Flexibility and creativity in engineering approaches

Proficient skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydrology modeling, and Microsoft software applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and survey software

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management

Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities

The ability to think methodically and to manage projects

Familiarity with local code requirements (Preferred)

Experience with structural design

Solid understanding of boundary resolution for urban and rural properties, topographic mapping, and ALTA standards

Experience with preparation and submittal of subdivision plats and partitions for recording purposes with city/county agencies

Project management skills that include estimates, proposals, and budget reviews

The duties and responsibilities of this position include:

Plan, administer, and design small to medium size civil and land surveying projects

Provide leadership in efficient and constructability design of civil projects

Provide support overseeing the completion of survey projects for boundary, topographic, ALTA surveys, subdivisions, partitions and property descriptions

Support research and development of work plans for civil and survey projects, including utility research

Estimate and budget labor hours for design and survey projects; review job costing reports

Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction by fulfilling all client objectives

Participate in business development opportunities

Participate in professional organizations and functions

Potential for site visits when needed/required

Physical Demands: Assignments involve office work entailing periods of intense concentration while working on problems, reports, calculations, etc. The position also requires good physical conditioning for review, inspection, and construction work in the field. May be required to complete field surveys involving walking, rocky terrain, hauling instruments, and other engineering equipment and supplies. May require some lifting of equipment 25-45 pounds.

Work Environment: Environment varies from working in a heated or air-conditioned office to performing outside assignments in summer and winter months. Outside work terrain may involve brushy, wet, steep, rocky terrain or rough or flat arid desert or grasslands. Travel in snow, rain, or on muddy roads may create hazardous driving conditions. Travel to remote sites may be required.

Requirements of the Position:

Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering

Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Oregon, or ability to quickly obtain, licenses in other states a plus

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license
