Your Opportunity

The Schwab CyberSecurity Services (SCS) organization is a centralized Center of Excellence (COE) within Schwab Technology Services (SCS) that provides security services to advance Schwab's security posture and improve the protection of Schwab's critical assets.

The Technology Risk and Cybersecurity Compliance (TRACC) team within SCS supports Schwab's dedication to safeguarding information and computing resources through the solid cyber and technology risk management practices.

The Business Information Security Officer is a liaison role as an individual contributor at Charles Schwab.

What you are good at

  • Developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of security standards and how they are implemented
  • Working closely with; business partners to deliver high quality and client friendly responses to information security due diligence questions from clients and prospects; as well as presenting information security practices and engaging in dialogue regarding how to meet the needs of our clients;
  • Partnering closely with legal to review and redline Information Security clauses of client contracts
  • Working to drive information security requirements based on emerging trends in the marketplace
  • Functioning as an information security subject matter specialist in projects to define requirements and provide analysis of implementation options
  • Conducting deep dive information security assessments as well as leading threat modeling sessions with application teams
  • Providing cybersecurity expertise in the development and execution of business plans and technology roadmaps
  • Participating in local governance boards, risk forums, and risk committees to provide a cybersecurity perspective, as needed
  • Leading cybersecurity working group meetings
  • Producing and presenting relevant cybersecurity metrics on an ongoing and timely basis
  • Being available to travel may be required (around 10%)

What you have

  • Minimum 5 years of advanced Information Security experience in large scale environments
  • Bachelor or Advanced degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Technology is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of cryptography as it relates to computer and network security as well as file and email encryption
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent track record of building effective working relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and balance multiple projects and succeed in a fast-paced, heavy workload environment
  • Attention to detail and a passion for customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively with prospects and clients to understand their requirements and explain how Schwab meets them
  • Knowledge of internal controls, financial/banking regulations, and risk assessment/risk mitigation processes is helpful
  • Knowledge of SIGs, SOC reports, and PCI DSS is preferred
  • Demonstrates proficiency with the IT Security Common Body of Knowledge
IT Audit and controls analysis experience and professional certifications like CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCNA, or SANS are preferred
