Senior Resource Connection is seeking an experienced Financial Services Worker (Payee) for a full-time position at our Dayton headquarters. This position is also eligible for a rich benefits package including: Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, company paid Life Insurance, 401K, paid Holidays, and Paid Time Off (starting with 3 weeks' paid vacation, sick time, personal day and volunteer time off).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

This position is accountable for functioning as a representative payee for assigned clients who are elderly and are unable to safely and responsibly manage their own money. The position will also maintain the automated financial payee system and related computer records

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Performs various payee duties for all assigned caseload of elderly clients.

Obtains payeeships from banks and other agencies.

Establishes and maintains accounts to receive and safeguard client funds.

Negotiates with creditors on balances and payment plans for clients.

Researches and pays necessary bills for clients.

Balances clients' check registers with monthly banking statements.

Determines clients' spending priorities and investment of surplus funds.

Maintains close working relationships with Community Mental Health Center's case managers.

2. Maintains the automated representative financial payee software system for the program.

Manages the data entry of all client financial transactions with the computerized system.

Maintains the computerized software system to assure its effectiveness.

Audits the transactions for internal quality assurance within the program.

3. To withdraw money from the bank on a weekly basis for the Case Managers to give to their clients for food and other needs.

4. Performs various activities relating to the Social Services Division.

Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and training sessions.

5. Establishes and maintains records and reports.

Prepares activity and dictation logs on a regular basis.

Maintains accurate files on clients receiving services.

6. Performs other related duties as required by the Financial Services Supervisor of the Social Service Division.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE OF: The legal and financial responsibilities of a representative payee program; banking procedures; basic finance and investments; basic accounting; Windows and Quicken.

ABILITY TO: Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; establish and maintain records for accountability of client funds; develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff and financial institutions, and weekly to withdraw money from the bank for clients' food and other needs.

SKILL IN: Interpersonal communications and counseling.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance Business Administration or other related field with the successful completion of a course in basic accounting software. Must have one (1) year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting or financial management. Must pass a criminal background check and maintain a clear record.
