The Coordinator understands the needs of the organization, supports its mission and values, and ensures the efficiency of ERAS services. The ERAS program Coordinator manages all aspects of the ERAS Cardiac/Thoracic program for the Department of Cardio/Thoracic Surgery. Responsibilities include being the point person for all communications, facilitating roll out of the maintenance of ERAS Cardiac/Thoracic programs. Will assist in protocol development, addressing care coordination of ERAS patients through all stages of the peri-operative continuum and ensuring the pathway is followed by all disciplines. Facilitates ongoing education to the patient/family, care team and community resources for the surgery patients, will be an integral part of education from pre to post procedure including discharge teaching.This position will help navigate the patient through the course of care from pre-op to discharge and follow-up care. Identifies and resolves clinical issues which affect patient care, clinical efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability of program and making programmatic improvements through collaboration, project management and performance improvement activities. The ERAS Program Coordinator would assist other divisions with development and implementation of ERAS protocols in their specialty areas across WakeMed Health and Hospitals. This position will forward the efforts that have already been made in ERAS and will work with others in the system to expand to other areas.
