POSITION TITLE: Value Chain EngineerVolvo Group North America LLCLOCATION OF EMPLOYMENT: 7900 National Service Road, Greensboro, NC 27410POSITION DUTIES: Drive Efficiency Gains And Cost Reduction Activities, With Supply Chain End To End Focus, For The Truck Manufacturing Plants In North America.Key Duties:Analyze and optimize each and every point of Volvo's supply chain, from sourcing and ordering materials to the point of use in the production line, considering the impact on transport, inventory, material handling and piece price.Create value stream maps of supplier and the production facilities processes to identify waste in the supply chain and take action toeliminate it.Coordinate with material controllers at the plants to optimize planning parameters such as MQQ, shipping frequency, transit times andother MRP parameters.Lead improvements related to internal logistics processes (receiving, kitting, sequencing, delivery, etc), and external logistics (transport,Warehousing, replenishment modes, etc) to find the right balance between transport, inventory, piece price and internal logistics costs.Document, build and present strong business cases involving production logistics, the plants and Volvo group purchasing in the SCOG forum, making sure Volvo as whole benefits from the improvements regardless of each department's performance indicators.Coordinate and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to implement Volvo managed logistic centers (VMLC) when appropriate.Drive VCO initiatives during product project implementation by working with Log PM & GTO PM.Utilize Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) system capabilities to optimize the overall transport network cost and improve thedelivery precision.Coordinate and lead lean manufacturing training sessions. Support the overall development of the Production Logistics Teams.REQUIRMENTS: Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Logistics and 3 years of experience in Logistics engineering, Logistics Project Management or Value Chain Engineering. Experience must be in an industrial or manufacturing environment in an automotive or related industry. Solid knowledge of supply chain logistics best practices and primary cost drivers. Experience in lean manufacturing and value stream mapping. Understanding and skills in big data analytics.
