Job Description
The PO&T IT Data Analytics team develops, deploys, and manages Process Analytical, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Data Acquisition solutions for the users in PO&T. This position will lead the global activities for the team in the area of Manufacturing Data Systems. Manufacturing Data systems includes platforms that are deployed globally and locally directly supporting PO&T’s manufacturing processes. This position will work closely with the global cross functional team deploying and supporting manufacturing data systems including such applications as OSI PI, Infobatch, SynTQ and Simca Online. This role will also be responsible for developing, maintaining and deploying global standards for our manufacturing data systems, specifically the Data Historian (OSI PI) which is deployed as a local application across Biogen.
Platform Strategy: Develop and Drive global strategy for Biogen’s manufacturing data systems, including IOT, data historian (OSI PI), and manufacturing data from systems such as Infobatch and Simca. Global Facilitation: Lead global effort to harmonize technical and operational standards for IOT (devices, packaging, supply-chain), Data Historians (OSI PI) and facilitate with the global SMEs and users the communication and execution of the global strategy. Maintain global roadmaps for the manufacturing data platforms Project Leadership: Provide leadership for PO&T IT lead projects in the manufacturing data systems area, and provide oversight, guidance and expertise for global projects executed by the sites / business. Platform ownership: Server as IT System Owner for any PO&T data platforms that are deployed globally, including such platforms as OSI PI Technology and Innovation: Work with global SMEs, Users, and Vendors to assess new technologies and develop the appropriate roadmaps, use, and business cases for these technologies. Global Standards: Drive, implement, manage and deploy appropriate standards for the global data solutions Vendor Management: Manage the relationship with key vendors for our Global Data platforms. Budget Management: Develop annual budget, define project budgets, and manage budgets for ongoing projects and programs.Qualifications
- 6 – 10 years of experience with manufacturing automation and IT systems, with focus in the generation and use of process and manufacturing data
- Experience in matrixed organization or with leadership of teams without direct organizational control preferred
- Experience with Biogen’s global IOT system, OSI PI, required
- Experience manufacturing data systems including reporting, alarming and notifications, Process Analytical Technologies (PAT) preferred
- Experience with the key systems that generate manufacturing and process data preferred (PLCs, DeltaV, Syncade, Lab Systems, LIMS, Trackwise, Oracle ERP)
- Experience operating in a global environment, developing global standards and operating models helpful
- 5+ years of experience working with validated (GXP) applications.
- Experience leading & managing multiple projects or initiatives at one time.
- Experience working with outsourced service providers
- Biotech / Life Sciences experience preferred.

- Willingness and ability to train and mentor staff
Bachelor's degree in IT or Engineering field minimum of 5+ years of related industry experience.

This Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and operational support of the manufacturing data systems for Biogen’s Next Generation Manufacturing Execution System supporting Pharmaceutical Operations and Technology (PO&T).
