Other duties may be assigned.1.1 Maintains an environment of safety and privacy for patients, self and others.1.2 Prepares charts for admission of patients; admits patients and processes their paperwork, updates patient demographics/information in system, copies patient information (identification and insurance cards) obtained, collects money due and documents in billing documents.1.3 Handles funds per office procedures.1.4 Conducts pre registration, insurance verification, pre authorization/prior approval, pre service registration before the date of service for scheduled and/or pre registered accounts.1.5 Ensures ADT information is current and accurate to ensure patient safety, charging, coding, insurance processing and billing accuracy.1.6 Completes and documents all governmental, regulatory, and contractual requirements in accordance to procedure.1.7 Obtains waivers (patient signature and scanning the document) for any self-pay service. Documents the need for Business Office Manager for financial screening/assistance consult, as requested prior to check-in during the insurance verification process.1.8 Utilizes price estimation tool as a daily part of the registration process to provide the most accurate estimate to our patients.1.9 Ensures customer service by consistently demonstrating a caring, positive, professional, and helpful disposition with all customer relations. Meets customer service targets for assigned area.1.10 Answers telephones, directs calls, takes and delivers messages.1.11 Updates all patient information on computer system to maintain billing accuracy.1.12 Informs scheduler immediately if there appears to be a problem with the patient insurance so that new information may be obtained or the case may be rescheduled.1.13 The supervision of the collection, processing, maintenance, storage and appropriate access to and usage of medical records.QualificationsHS or GED required; College degree preferred. One year of patient access or related experience or training desired. Prefer experience in healthcare setting with exposure to patient registration or scheduling or insurance authorization processes. Requires exceptional customer service, organizational, and basic computer skills. Medical terminology desired.
