SummaryYou will serve as a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN / CUSTSUPT) in the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Information Technology (IT) Support Center (MITSC) East, G-6, of MARINE CORPS BASE. This announcement uses the Certain Competitive Services direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.ResponsibilitiesYou will install, configure and troubleshoot each respective system in accordance with supporting technical documentation.You will monitor tactical operation systems to support the integration of products to meet objectives during combat missions or exercises.You will provide subject matter expertise and feedback to program managers in support of the evaluating, testing, and development of interoperability procedures to command and control, communication, computer, and intelligence (i.e. C4I) systems.You will diagnose and isolate issues with joint intelligence system, user action, and tactical combat interfaces to implement solutions to problems.You will identify security vulnerabilities to determine if level of protection is adequate and compliant with tactical combat operation policies, practices, and procedures.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsI have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing system issues and developing procedures for eliminating vulnerabilities. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Supporting system users throughout the installation and region ensuring user accounts are created and working properly. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: Provide system audit/inspection reports to the Industrial Controls Manager; represent the installation as an industrial controls cyber security specialist at meetings and in working groups to discuss security procedures and resolve technical issues. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing system data, using tools and techniques to develop reports on system trends, issues and potential problems to resolve unique and unprecedented program problems. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Coordinating and integrating technical aspects of computer work with administrative matters such as Mainframe Automated Information Systems (AIS) and end-user/customer identity and access management (IdAM) and cyber security, risk management, standards management, and configuration management, while providing quality control, extensive liaison with customers, and initial troubleshooting.
