Description: At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, we are driven by innovation and integrity.Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly motivated multi-disciplined engineering manager to join the hardware engineering department for the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Navigation Program.This position involves technical planning, staffing, performance assessment, feedback, cost and risk, and supportability analyses for a total system solution.Coordinate technical support, hardware/software design, analysis, modeling, test, evaluation, troubleshooting, and validation of all hardware.Provide leadership and functional management for approximately 20 engineers in the Hardware Engineering group.This manager will be responsible for providing the skills, tools and processes to design, develop, optimize, and document the Navigation Hardware System.Functional responsibilities include:1) Assignment of work tasks, providing performance appraisals, career planning, and training development required for direct reports.2) Conduct staffing and work force planning to support current and anticipated projects, including interviewing and hiring personnel as required. Coordinate staffing requirements closely with Chief Engineer’s team.3) Define, communicate and coordinate staffing priorities as well as funding requirements with the appropriate project leads.4) Act as a stakeholder for programs ensuring domain area is appropriately represented.5) Review and approve functional proposal inputs including BOEs and scopes of work.6) Own, execute, and status department level initiatives.7) Change agent in responsible area with focus on affordability and advancing technical capabilities and innovation.As a member of this Hardware Engineering Department, qualified candidates will have an entrepreneurial spirit. Candidates will self-initiate and promote innovative ideas and solutions to technical challenges, align new concepts to customer missions and requirements, follow customer opportunities and respond rapidly to solicitations aligned to department strategy, communicate concepts and ideas with influence to gain stakeholder buy-in, and develop sound business cases in support of qualified pursuits.Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering or similar degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 15 years or more of professional experience; or 13 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree Expertise experience in hardware engineering Experienced in ensuring organization staff achieves applicable program and business commitments (technical, cost, and schedule) Experience with hardware design and development, hardware design processes, collecting and reporting metrics Experience with Configuration Management (CM) processes, tools, and metrics Experience and ability in leading technical teamsDesired Skills: Experience managing a technical team to design and build products for military application T9001B or any of its variants Familiar with engineering 2D and 3D tools (e.g. AutoCad, Pro-E and Solid WorksDOOR's, CREO, Winsight) Familiar with BOM's, CDRL prep, Govt Documentation including DD-250, DD1149 Familiar with CM tools (ClearCase, ClearQuest, DOORS) Earned Value Management Experience (CAM) Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact with customers, team members, and senior leadership, Active Department of Defense secret or higher clearanceBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:job.QualificationsLockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
