National Fuel is currently seeking an experienced Electronic Technician for an outstanding career opportunity at our Farmington Compressor Station located in Farmington, New York. As part of the National Fuel team, the successful candidate will enjoy a challenging work environment with a strong and growing company. An Electronic Technician is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of electrical power circuits and equipment, control and automation systems, and electronic equipment used in pipeline systems, compressor stations, substations, as well as interconnect and measurement facilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installation, inspection, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic equipment such as telemetering, programmable logic controllers (including Allen-Bradley), modems, transducers, sensing devices, radio & satellite equipment, remote terminal units, computer interface equipment and cabling.

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair medium voltage electrical systems, operating up to 34,500 volts, such as incoming service, main switchgear, transformers, Neutral Grounding Resistor, overhead and underground power distribution, metering, variable frequency drives, 16,000 HP motors, power panels, and controls. This can include performing medium voltage isolation, switching, and manual grounding using approved procedures.

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair low voltage equipment, less than 600 volts, such as emergency power generation, overhead and underground power distribution, motor control centers, panels and transformers, SCADA systems, digital and analog control systems, variable frequency drives, power protection equipment, UPS systems, building services, switchgear, power conditioning equipment, as well as general lighting, solar panels, grounding, and lightning protection systems.

Provide coverage for electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control logic systems for electric motor, natural gas powered engines and turbines as well as reciprocating and centrifugal gas compressors.

Provide inspection for construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties for compliance with safety, regulatory requirements, and NEC (National Electrical Code).

Work with multiple departments to maintain and improve the reliability of company facilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Have demonstrated experience and a thorough knowledge of NFPA National Electrical Code, single & three phase systems, digital & analog electronics, electronic test equipment, wiring methods and safety practices.

Possess knowledge and prior experience working with medium voltage systems, equipment, substations, and power distribution. Ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain cables, instrumentation, VFDs, motors, generators, circuit breakers, switchgear, and transformers as appropriate to the position. Direct experience of a three year minimum at a power plant or similar industrial setting with support of medium voltage systems.

Have proven technical abilities, mechanical aptitude, the ability to quickly solve problems, and strong computer skills for diagnostics and installation of equipment.

Possess outstanding leadership and supervisory skills to take a leading role in electrical and automation systems.

Be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and the ability to work in and around hazards and difficult to reach areas. The ability to successfully work independently as well as within a team environment is required.

Possess an Associates Degree in Electronics or have equivalent work experience and a valid drivers license.

Live within a 20-mile radius of the Farmington Compressor Station located at 969 Hook Road, Farmington, NY or be willing to relocate. Candidates may be given 6 months from their hire date to permanently relocate.

The candidate will be provided with on-the-job training and must meet all qualifications of the job.
