other conditions.The position of Lyophilization Scientist is
within our Abbott Rapid Diagnostics business located in Auburn, NY. This role will include providing
advanced technical support toward the accomplishment of manufacturing and
product development objectives. The
primary responsibility of the individual is the production and maintenance of
the Technical Manufacturing Critical Reagent supply.RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinates the work of manufacturing and/orresearch engineers/scientists and technicians.
Characterizes theperformance of materials, processes and products.
Maintains goodmanufacturing/laboratory practices (GMP or GLP), orderly and accuratepaperwork, quality systems, and maintaining the integrity of manufacturedproduct.
Makes advancedtechnically based decisions that are important to present and futureproducts and is responsible for disseminating the technical findings toother functional areas of the company
Maintains and supportsthe Critical Reagents supply
Responsible for leadingand managing product/process testing projects
Assists in manufacturingproduction solutions as dictated by the production schedule andmaintaining the raw bioreagent supply as needed to support this schedule.
Supports CustomerComplaint investigation.
Supports Tracking andTrending Analysis Program
May conduct originalresearch that furthers the objectives of the company.
May conduct root causeanalysis on product failures, including proposals for preventive actions
Schedules test programsand management of workload to help assure timely and satisfactorycompletion of projects
Maintains good verbaland written communication skills and provides timely and accuratereporting both internally and externally.
Monitorsscientific/medical literature relevant to innovative research and testingobjectives
Consults with andprovides technical evaluations for other departments (Manufacturing,Development, etc.
SupportsR&D/Marketing with product development and consultation.
May work with testrequestors to develop test programs, formulate test protocols, and chooseappropriate test equipment.Thiswill include supervision of fabrication or selection of new equipment asneeded
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree (BA orBS) in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biology, immunology,or chemistry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 6+ years in lyophilizationand/or freeze drying manufacturing processes.
Experience withLyophilization equipment
Formulation, scale up,scale down experience for lyophilization and/or freeze drying processes
Biomolecular formulationa Plus
Experience optimizinglyophilization manufacturing processes (freeze cycles, drying cycles,total cycle time)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Master Degree in chemical engineering,biomedical engineering , biology, immunology, or chemistry.
Familiarity withnational and international testing standards related to mechanical andchemical testing.
