Working Construction Foreman (Rochester, NY)

Growing Rochester, New York construction firm is looking for a skilled, experienced Working Foreman to join our team. This full-time job is a mission-critical hourly position with a Company truck and power tools provided. As a Working Foreman, you will focus on leading a crew in the field while also directly carrying out construction tasks to deliver the Company’s self-performed project work on time and under budget.

Specific duties include the following:

Overseeing a crew of two to five employees at various skill and experience levels, including ensuring that their work is planned and carried out to maximize timeliness and efficiency;

Consistently maintaining a high level of quality control over the work of the team;

Using blueprints and other construction drawings to help prepare project layouts, identify materials needed, and ensure that all work meets project specifications and other requirements;

Performing a variety of construction tasks, including interior demolition, wall framing, drywall, carpentry, hardware installation, and related work in accordance with local building codes;

Reporting to and communicating with the Operations Manager on job progress, challenges, issues and concerns;

Communicating with the Project Manager as appropriate on job-specific issues, including submitting change order requests and obtaining approvals on a timely basis;

Maintaining positive communications with subcontractors and owners;

Ensuring that presentation, cleanliness, and organization of the job site meet or exceed Company standards;

Completing the OSHA 30 hour training course and adhering to and maintaining established OSHA and other policies and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment;

Carrying out weekly Tool Box safety discussions with field staff;

Responding to and reporting injuries and other incidents in a timely manner in accordance with OSHA requirements and Company policy;

Holding employees accountable for attendance and punctuality, documenting policy violations, and reviewing and approving time cards;

Ensuring that the Company values of trust, integrity, efficiency, professionalism, and customer satisfaction are consistently demonstrated by all team members; and

Performing other duties as assigned.

The specific requirements/qualifications of the position include the following:

Minimum of 4-5 years prior relevant experience preferred;

Demonstrated leadership skills combined with an ability to function effectively as a team member within a corporate structure;

Ability to read, comprehend, and critically analyze blueprints and other types of commercial construction drawings;

High school graduate preferred;

Finish carpentry skills a plus;

Drywall finishing skills a plus;

Strong working knowledge of OSHA and other job safety requirements;

Good driving history;

Ability and willingness to work more than 40 hours per week when necessary to complete required tasks;

Ability and willingness to travel to upstate New York job locations from Buffalo to Albany which can sometimes include overnight stays; and

Drug free and willing to undergo criminal background check.
