Carpenters Local 277 is currently recruiting applicants for their Carpenter Apprenticeship Program.
Union Carpenter Apprentices receive five years of combined on-the-job and classroom training. In return, they will be rewarded with the skills and expertise theyll need to be the safest, most productive professional carpenters in the construction industry.
The New York State Certified Carpenters Apprenticeship Training Program consists of 800 hours of technical training at our Training Center, combined with five years of On the Job training.
At the Training Center we have simulated the on-the-job environment, providing the participant with hands-on approach to learn each of the required skills. All skill areas are supervised by a Certified Instructor who is an experienced Journeyman Carpenter. Instructors spend a considerable amount of time with the apprentice teaching the technical aspects of the program in a classroom setting. The instructor is also available to answer questions, demonstrate proper procedures and assist the apprentices as they complete their projects.
In addition to covering all of the areas of the carpentry trade, our training program also includes:
- Industry Relevant Math
- OSHA Worksite Safety Training
- Blueprint Reading
- Building Layout
- Welding
- Rigging
- Aerial Lift Certification
Each apprentice must be proficient in all phases of the carpentry trade before advancing to Journeyman Carpenter Status.
But the learning doesnt stop when you reach Journeyman status, we also offer upgrading classes for Journeyman.
By training our Apprentices and Journeyman in all of the latest technologies and applications we are able to provide our Employers with the finest most competitive carpenters in the trade.
