Analytical Services, Inc. (ASI) has an immediate opening for a Virologist in our environmental microbiology laboratory in Williston, Vermont.

Duties will include the processing and analysis of environmental samples for the detection of viruses using traditional cell culture (plaque assay and MPN formats) and real-time PCR, preparing reports for review and logging control results for QA/QC. Duties may also include other microbiological analyses, with other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will be trained using Standard Operating Procedures to work independently and as part of the Laboratory Operations team in a fast-paced, collegial but professional laboratory environment. Attention to detail and efficient work rate required.

Hours - Full-time.

Education - BS in Microbiology or related field. Cell culture experience required. Professional laboratory experience preferred.

Skills - Cell culture and propagation. Ability to distinguish cytopathic effect from cytotoxicity. Real-time PCR. Standard microbiological bench skills, including aseptic technique

Mental - Organized, attentive to detail, efficient, strong work ethic, positive team member.

Physical - Requires fine and gross motor skills, most work performed standing at bench. Requires lifting up to 30 lbs.
