Tuscarora Scout Reservation is looking for a Waterfront/Aquatics Director for its 2019 Summer Camp Season. The Dates of employment would be June 30, 2019 to August 11, 2019. This is a Resident Camp position and most of the staff will live on-site (Cabin housing can be arranged). (Camp Staff is Co-ed as are the Boy Scouts of America now.)

In addition, the successful candidate will complete pre-season Training at National Camp School for Aquatics Director. The applicant must be Lifeguard Certified and 21 or older, able to pass a Federal Background check and be committed to working with children ages 6-17 as well as overseeing an aquatics Staff. The Baden-Powell Council and Tuscarora Scout Reservation will pay for the National Camp School Certification which is good for 5 years and is nationally recognized.

The following is a basic job description:

-Responsible to the Program Director.

-Must be at least 21 years of age

-Graduated from the Aquatics section at Nation Camp School holding a current certificate of completion.

-Main area of responsibility will be the safe and efficient operation of the aquatic facilities.

-Safety conscious, capable teacher, dependable, mature attitude and able to exercise good judgment.

-Must be certified in Standard First Aid and CPR.

-Will coordinate the Waterfront activities for her/his staff and the whole camp.

-Will coordinate all merit badge work in her/his area.

-Maintain all water front equipment (rowboats, canoes, kayaks, etc.) and safety devices.

-Relates will with campers and staff.

-Will submit a closing report.

-Will coordinate all her/his needs for his area with the Program Director.

-Must love Polar Bear swims. (Twice weekly, 6:30 am)

-Will live up to and abide by the Scout Oath and Law as well as Camp Uniform requirements

-Will perform other duties as may be assigned by the Camp Director.
