Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an IT Business Analyst for a contract assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in lower Manhattan, NYC. He/she will support the Locates (short-selling pre-trade approval request) processing team. The ideal candidate will have a background is a Business Analysis with a strong technology/development background (i.e., someone who is well versed in SQL and software languages such as scripting who can provide data analysis) NOTE: If you do not have experience working at a: Prime Brokerage , Prime Services , Securities Lending or a Hedge Fund and you are not local to New York, NY this is probably not the right role for you. Responsibilities :
- Work closely with business stakeholders in the Prime Service business (Hedge Fund Sales Desk within an Investment Bank) in understanding business requirements.
- Work within a team of Business Analysts and Developers
- Work very closely with business users and a vendor to help drive deliverables.
- Analyze and document business and functional requirements as per business needs.
- Must be able to test and analyze data as part of data testing using various tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL tools, etc.
- Analyze and understand the deliverables as per business needs and work on the allocated tasks based on priority.
- The role will provide this person with extensive opportunity to interact directly with securities lending sales-traders in Toronto, NYC, London, and Singapore & will provide them with unique insight into how hedge funds & prime brokers operate
- Experience working as an IT BA in a Prime Brokerage, Prime Services, or Securities Lending group
- Candidate must be familiar with short-sales pre-trade process (Locates).
- Strong understanding of Technology and how technology has implications on a business
- Knowledge of Prime Brokerage or Stock Loans / Securities Lending is mandatory
- Capital Markets / Investment Bank
- Must have knowledge of using SQL on databases such as Oracle, Sybase, etc.
- Understanding of Software design and software development lifecycle
- Must have experience in gathering and documenting business requirements, functional requirements, gap analysis
- Experience in testing and analyzing data as part of data analysis
- Good communication skills
- Ability to communicate with key business and technology stakeholders on a daily basis
- Bachelor of Science degree
- Experience with order management /order processing systems a strong plus
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Visio a plus
