Position Objective
GENEX is seeking to fill the position of Processing Laboratory Technician to process, evaluate, extend, freeze, and package bull semen to ensure a quality product.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Evaluate and process bull semen into a final product
Evaluate the bull semen using specialized laboratory equipment and determine appropriate treatment/use of routine ejaculates
Fill, seal, and rack semen straws for cryopreservation and package the other ejaculates properly
Freeze semen using conventional freezing tanks or automated freezers and maintain liquid nitrogen level in all freezing tanks
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairing of laboratory equipment
Assist with gobletting and caning semen, packing semen for shipment, and providing necessary documentation
Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Animal or Dairy Science is preferred but not required
Comfortable working in a laboratory setting which may involve long periods of standing and working in a cold room
Must have a high-attention to detail, is organized and have the ability to multi-task
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment as well as possess effective communication skills
Must have a valid driver's license
Willingness to grow and develop both personally and professionally
