The Ithaca Waldorf School (www.ithacawaldorf.org) is seeking an experienced Early Childhood teacher for a class of students ages 3-5 years old. Applicants should have a bachelors degree or higher, and have multiple years of successful Early Childhood teaching experience, preferably in a Waldorf School. Ideal candidates possess a Waldorf teaching certificate, or are willing to obtain one. The Ithaca Waldorf School (IWS) extends from Grade One through Eight, in addition to providing full day programs in two Early Childhood classrooms, which are fully accredited by the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (www.waldorfearlychildhood.org).

The independent, not-for-profit Ithaca Waldorf School is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide instruction through Grade 8. IWS is currently an Associate School with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (www.whywaldorf.org). The Ithaca Waldorf School is nestled in the New York Finger Lakes on an 80-acre organic campus composed of field, forest and a biodynamic and educational farm (www.youthfarmproject.org). Our faculty enjoys a warm collegial relationship and receives support for professional development, tuition remission for enrolled children, and health benefits.

Qualifications:

BA or BS required

Masters Degree in Education preferred

Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred

Waldorf teaching experience preferred

Experience teaching pre-school/Kindergarten students

Teaching, interpersonal, and class management skills

Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities will include:

Teaching 37.5 hours per week, in an Early Childhood class.

Working out of an understanding of the Waldorf approach to child development

Collaborating and communicating with colleagues

Attending the Early Childhood and Full Faculty meetings regularly
