The Ithaca Waldorf School (www.ithacawaldorf.org) is seeking an enthusiastic, organized and motivated teacher to assist in the Early Childhood program in the afternoon, and also within the After-school program for early childhood (ages 3-6) children. Ideal candidates are friendly, open, well-spoken, warm, and interested in eventually completing full certification as Waldorf Early Childhood teachers. The Ithaca Waldorf School has two Early Childhood classrooms, each taught by a lead kindergarten teacher with an assistant. All candidates should be able to provide a safe, nurturing and orderly environment which meets the needs of the children in her/his care. Outdoor play and visits to the neighboring organic farm are part of the daily After-school program for children of all ages. Successful applicants are encouraged to bring age-appropriate games and hand-craft activities to the children for the AfterSchool program. Guidance will be provided by the Faculty mentors. It is expected that the teacher will leave a clean and orderly classroom at the end of each day.

The hours of this position are 12 noon - 6 pm from Monday through Friday. Professional development money is available to assist employees with furthering their knowledge and understanding of Waldorf education. Compensation is $13-15/hour “ commensurate with experience, partial tuition remission and includes health benefits.

The independent, not-for-profit Ithaca Waldorf School is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide instruction through Grade 8. A fully-accredited member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), we are currently a developing school with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. The Ithaca Waldorf School is nestled in the New York Finger Lakes on an 80-acre organic campus composed of field, forest and a biodynamic and educational farm (www.youthfarmproject.org).
