Unique Art/Travel Opportunity for the right Person (Santa Fe)

New Mexico, Santa fe / taos 00000 Santa fe / taos USA

Vacancy caducado!

Seeking a young, hardworking individual with a flexible schedule, motivation for advancement, friendly demeanor and inclination towards aesthetics.

I am a stone sculptor who designs and fabricates stone fountains and art work and also travels mainly to Texas, Colorado and Arizona all throughout the year selling the work at art shows. The person I seek would help fabricate the work in Santa Fe and also travel and help with the shows and instal sold work.

Reliable transportation, ability to stay in contact regarding schedule and during travel (have a smart phone) and a willingness to work/travel long days/nights depending on schedule is mandatory.

Signing a legally binding non-compete contract is required for employment.

The Studio Part:

STONE GRINDING. It is very labor intensive although we believe in Smarter not Harder. Large pieces of stone are cut and polished with hand saws, grinders, hand held polishers, hammers and chisels, etc. Stone grinding experience is not necessary but basic knowledge and past use of power tools is helpful. It is absolutely necessary to be able to follow directions and to be able to ask questions. Having an eye for visual balance, proportion and aesthetic quality is key to advancement. You will be dusty, dirty, sometimes soggy and maybe a little bloody if youre not careful. All protective wear is provided (Goggles, gloves, etc). You provide a pair of Steel toed boots (required), good work pants and shirts.

NO DRUGS/ALCOHOL USE is tolerated in Studio or while working shows or installations. People with alcohol/drug/addiction issues need not apply. Random drug tests may be necessary for workers comp or insurance compliance.

The Travel/Shows part:

The upmost professionalism when working shows and/or dealing with clients is mandatory. Service industry and/or sales/art gallery experience is a bonus in this regard. You will be representing me as an Artist and my 20+ year career as a sculptor.

We typically will travel for 1 - 2 weeks out of state, staying in hotels, working the shows and completing installations. These are usually LONG DAYS. For example, the shows are sometimes set up after 7 hours of travel, starting at 6 PM, work till 1 AM and then open the next morning, then take it all down Sunday night after working the show all day. Usually we will work a show over a weekend, instal sold works the rest of the week and then load in another show the following weekend. Sometimes its only one show. Travel home depends on the completion of installations. Installations include digging holes, shoveling gravel and other landscaping type work. Shows are 2 - 3 days long where we have extensive conversations with potential clients. It is essentially a pop up art gallery and is presented as such.

Depending on the season, we work in the studio for 2 - 3 weeks, travel for 1- 2 weeks then back to the studio for maybe a week then travel again. It constantly changes. Being able to accommodate this lifestyle and be flexible with personal schedules is necessary.

Full disclosure: This lifestyle is not easy on relationships and is not recommended at all if you have young children or other responsibilities that would require you to be home at certain times. Since I already have employees that travel, the constant travel schedule for all may be altered i.e one person travels one time then the other travels the next time. However there will be times (and most likely most of the times) that all employees will travel together. This will evolve once the right person is found.

All food/lodging is paid for during travel, your only cost would be personal expenditures.

Having a clean driving record and ability to drive a pick up truck with a trailer and be listed on my company auto insurance is needed.

This is an opportunity that hopefully would last for years. I am not just looking for a worker bee but someone that can help carry the company along with other employees. The person that can dedicate themselves to the success of the company will ultimately be more financially successful in the long run.

PAY: Anyone will start at the Living Wage amount of $12/hour with rapid advancement depending on ability, past experience, willingness to learn and general competence. $16/hour could be reached fairly quickly depending on these factors. Any pay above $16/hour is considered after 1 year. When traveling, overtime is often achieved quickly (time and a half pay) and sometimes results in 60+ hour weeks (All are paid weekly so that means 20 hours of overtime for 60 hour week). The busier we are, the more money you make. The more money we make at shows, the busier we are.

Please respond via email with resume, past relevant experience and other talents that you think would be useful in this position. Include contact information (phone number and email). I will contact you for an initial phone conversation and to schedule an interview. Position is available immediately and can start out as part time if need be but would move up to full time within several weeks.

Thank you.
