Our client, a downtown gallery of historic works on paper with a focus on the American West, has an immediate, full-time opening for Gallery Administrator and Marketing Assistant. The successful candidate will have excellent research and written communication skills, basic graphic design and web maintenance abilities,tech orientation, and attention to detail.

ResponsibilitiesResearch original art pieces using reference library and internet resources to document historical significanceWrite physical descriptions, historical accounts, and artist biographies to support marketing and sales presentationsWrite and edit messaging copy for catalogs, website, press releases, emails, and other mediaFormat digital photosUpload art inventory to website, and support website maintenanceCreate and send mass emailsPrepare sales offers to individual clientsAssist Owner to find and acquire new inventoryMaintain inventory, client, art dealer, and library databasesAnswer phones, monitor gallery, greet clients, provide customer service, and make sales when possibleBe flexible to accommodate needs of small business and owner on a day-to-day basis, and to ensure gallery coverage during holidays, art shows, and Owner's travel schedule
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in art history or related field, and/or knowledge of western art and AmericanaExcellent writing skills, able to research and produce intelligent and compelling descriptions of museum quality works on paperTechnical knowledge of Mac hardware, and software that includes MS Word, Excel, Filemaker, Photoshop and other Adobe products, image and data file manipulation and formattingExperience with email marketing, digital/graphic design, and basic website maintenanceOrganized, attentive, detail-oriented
