What You Will DoThe Plasma Physics Group of the Physics Division at LANL is seeking a researcher to advance fusion energy research in the national interest. The successful applicant will participate in the design and analysis of experiments in areas of inertial confinement fusion and high-energy density science. They will work in a research team to and improve electronics and develop new data analysis methodologies for making quantitative inferences from data collected at major laser user facilities such as Omega and the NIF to enhance the value of these data and contribute to scientific discovery. They will implement new methodologies in hardware and software tools, and then harness those tools for both analysis of ongoing experiments and the development of new experiments. They will interact with LANL researchers and collaborators from other laboratories and institutions to develop new projects, identify new research opportunities, and contribute to the advancement of the inertial confinement fusion concept as a solution for global energy challenges and to advance stockpile stewardship capabilities.What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:

Ardiuno, Raspberry Pi, and microcomputer use/building knowledge

Circuit modeling, Electronics, and PID loop programming experience

Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific work through peer-reviewed publication and/or presentations to recognized scientific societies

Desired Qualifications:

C, Labview, Mathmatica, AutoCad, Python, and IGOR skills a plus

Familiarity with basic principles of laser-driven experiments and plasma diagnostics

Experience in plasma physics research or related fields such as astronomy, cosmology, or laboratory astrophysics

Experience with plasma experiments using foams or aerogels is a plus

Laboratory, teaching, publication and/or conference presentation experience demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with a team and share knowledge with both senior and junior staff

Education: Master degree in Physics or related degree.Note to Applicants:
