Responsibilities:
- Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment for each patient
- Maintain safe and clean environment by complying with procedures and regulations, adhering to infection control and policies
- Organize and lay out instruments for dentist's use
- Handing instruments and other materials to dentist during procedures
- Use suction and swabs to keep patients' mouths clear and dry during procedures
- Obtain patients' dental records
- Question patients about their medical history and record the information in the dental software for dentist; dental charting
- Advise patients on dental care and post-treatment instructions
- Make patients feel comfortable before, during and after treatment
- Helps manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification and emergency drug and oxygen supply.
- Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions and calling for repairs
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, maintain records, mail billing statements, order supplies
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Delivers community dental health presentations
- Plans, assembles and mans health fair booths
Advanced Registered Dental Assistant expanded functions:
- Take dental x-rays
- Polish teeth
- Apply topical fluoride treatments
- Take impressions and bite wings
- Applies pit and fissure sealants
- Places and removes periodontal dressings
- Removes surgical sutures
- Pre-selection of orthodontics bands
- Place and remove orthodontic ligature ties, placing orthodontic separators
- Make temporary crowns
- Place topical anesthetic
- Remove excess cement from fabricated restorations and orthodontic bands
- Pours impressions to make stone and plaster models
- Trim models
- Fabricate mouth guards and custom impression trays
- Prepare casting models and dies
- Fabricate orthodontic retainers and appliances
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 2 years of dental assisting experience in office setting
- xray license and RDA license is a plus
HOURS:
30-35 hrs per week
