JOB TITLE: Ultrasound TechnologistLOCATION: Jersey Short HospitalDEPARTMENT: RadiologyWORK SCHEDULE: DaysWORK TYPE: Full TimeJOB SUMMARY:Responsible for independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography within their area of expertise and specific age range if applicable. Responsible for thedelivery of high quality, cost effective imaging services. Responsible for all regulatory requirements.Performs duties to support the mission of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.Reports to Women’s Health Leadership.COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:Demonstrates knowledge of technical/imaging components in the ultrasound department.Demonstrates flexibility to teach and ability to perform both independently and as a team member.Demonstrates knowledge/use of all supplies.Demonstrates knowledge of all procedures performed in Ultrasound.Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory and quality improvement policies.Demonstrates excellent and positive communication skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Graduate or student in their final year of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied health education programs (CAAHEP) is required.Satisfactory completion of a formal CAHEA recognized ultrasonic training program orequivalent experience required. ARDMS registry or eligibility required.Minimum of one year experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is preferred.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
