OverviewWithin the Compliance Department, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Representative is responsible for reviewing system generated daily and monthly alerts, gathering information and documenting findings to support recommendations, and completing Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) forms as needed.Responsibilities
Frequently assists with other FIU-related tasks and assignments.
Performs activities as required for the alert review process in accordance with department standards.
Creates narrative documentation for alerted transactions and SARs.
Adheres to any and all changes to procedures based on new regulations, updates Policy and Procedure manuals, and
Keeps abreast of Anti Money Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act/Office of Foreign Assets Control (AML/BSA/OFAC) regulations.
May analyze statistical data for output and make recommendations for process improvement.
Assures compliance with SMBC policies and procedures as well as AML/BSA/OFAC regulations.Collaborates with team leads to ensure quality and compliance for implementation of processes.
Provides training to new staff and actively contributes to the successful execution of the rotational trainee program.
Participates in such other tasks that may be required by the company from time-to-time, including Business Continuityefforts.
Qualifications
BA/BS preferred
CAMS or CFE preferred
Functional level knowledge of legal aspects and record keeping requirements of banking regulations relating to transaction surveillance (especially AML, BSA and OFAC).
2-4 years of specialized experience in Financial Services, banking and transaction monitoring experience preferred.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong written communication skills.
Strong sense of urgency and accountability; ability to execute in a high pressure and time-sensitive environment.
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated quality of work.
