TOLL ATTENDANT II #TMPPT5604 (Job Id 15693)Location: US:NH:MERRIMACKPost Date: 08/14/2019Close Date: 09/06/2019Category: LABOR and TRADEEmployment Type:Salary: 14.950-17.370 USDDescriptionState of New Hampshire - Department of TransportationBureau of TurnpikesMerrimack, NHToll Attendant IIUp to 29-1/2 Hours per week1st ShiftLabor Grade 11: $14.95 - $17.37Position #TMPPT5602The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Turnpikes, has a vacancy for a part time, first shift, Toll Attendant II.Summary:To supervise and maintain a toll plaza on the NH Turnpikes System, to include security, revenue, and public contact and to perform toll collection.Responsibilities:Assists and provides coverage for the Toll Shift Supervisor with supervisory functions at one or more toll plazas with responsibility for the security and accountability of toll revenue, access to the toll facility building, grounds and booths.Records, verifies and prepares all revenue collected by revenue date for pick up by the contracted money vendor.Processes and classifies vehicles expeditiously by category and method of payment in order to ensure proper revenue is collected through the electronic toll system to provide accurate audit records.Assigns and schedules replacement or additional toll attendants as needed to ensure proper coverage at the toll plaza and trains employees as directed.Monitors and reports Toll Collection System (TCS) malfunctions or anomalies to the contracted TCS vendor using a Maintenance Online Management System (MOMS) or directly contacts the TCS vendor to address system malfunctions that may result in loss of toll revenue in the absence of the Toll Shift Supervisor.Communicates information to the Transportation Management Center (TMC) to report weather events, motor vehicle accidents, and traffic delay information or request emergency services for the motoring public.Performs and organizes housekeeping duties and the clearing of snow in and around the toll booth and within the toll plaza.Prepares records and reports including but not limited to safety, state property damage and traffic statistics in the absence of the Toll Shift Supervisor.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.Experience: One year of experience in public contact work preferably involving the handling of cash and making change as well as partialsupervision of other employees.License/Certification: None required.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The job of collecting toll and the operation of the toll collection equipment is designed for a person in a standing position. The majority of time during a shift is spent in a standing position. A stool is provided to give you an opportunity to sit occasionally so you can rest your legs and change your back posture. Frequent bending, stretching, reaching, griping and twisting and the ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. occasionally are required. All accountabilities must be performed in accordance with State, Federal and Department rules and policies, including risk management, safety and environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of basic report procedure and ability to use computer and adding machine. Skill in providing basic supervision. Ability to make change quickly and accurately. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to count money and prepare simple records.Ability to work exposed to various climatic conditions. Ability to meet the public and answer questions in a pleasant and courteous manner.
