The Machine Set Up Tech is responsible for but not limited to: Technician must possess excellent knowledge of injection molding process, materials, molds and machinery. Technician must maintain molding schedules; evaluate parts based on quality standards as well as specifications, and assist machine operators as needed. Technician will assist material handler with start and setup procedures. Technician will possess experience with various molding machines, automation, and processing of various plastics. This position is a direct supporter/contributor to the success of the Operations Manager and any/all delegated work is expected to positively promote the Blackhawk brand.Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the following Requirements:Set-up and tear down of molds in molding machines according to schedules.Establish optimal cycle times, tonnage requirements and temperatures while upholding quality standards.Troubleshoot process when needed to ensure standards are maintained.Maintain optimal uptime of machinesBasic mold maintenance/cleaning.Training and support machine operators as needed.Responsible for adherence to Quality Specifications for all products.Must allow time studies and mold technician processes videotaping.Read, understand, and follow manufacturing material specificationsInspect parts per quality inspection manual while utilizing proper gages and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, etc.¦Gain advanced understanding of the injection molding machine components and related machine controlsFormal Machine Processing Training at level correlating to Set Up Tech 2 positionUnderstand mold commissioning including trouble shooting and isolation of tooling issuesThe part designThe material selectionThe mold design and constructionThe molding machineThe molding processUnderstand polymer flow and viscosity and the correlation to the molding processUnderstand the material, part and molds reaction to injection rate changesUnderstand the pressurization/packing/plasticization phase of the injection molding process and influence on the molded productHow to fine tune the injection molding cyclesPlastic Melt TemperaturesBarrel TemperaturesNozzle TemperaturesPlastic Flow RatesPlastic Pressure or Screw Back Pressure Plastic Cooling Rates and TimesPerform documentation of correct processes for repeatabilityHow to utilize machine applicationsMachine sensorsMold sensorsPressure tracesProcess monitoring, etc.Understand the most critical variables to track during productionMachine VariablesBarrel Temperature Hydraulic Pressure Hydraulic Flow Rate Oil Temperature Clamp ForceThermoplastic VariablesPlastic Temperature, Plastic Flow Rate, Plastic Pressure Plastic Cooling rate/timeUnderstand the cooling requirements of the moldsCoolant flow requirementsTemperaturePlumbingIn vs outEvaluation of machines capability to control process consistencyUnderstand Mold Components and TypesHot runner manifoldsCam slidesSwitchesValve gatesCan Process Hot RunnersOther work as required by supervisorQualifications:Minimum 18 months as Machine Set Up Tech 1(or equivalent external)Competent in plastics material handling processes and proceduresTaken and passed Mold Tech 1 Test to move to level 2(Internal)Shows desire to be a team player and an interest in making the team successfulConsistently demonstrates leadership skills and associated qualitiesPerforms all tasks associated and expected of the Machine Set Up Tech 1Demonstrated consistent drive to continued learningShows drive to assume more responsibilityWillingness to train others and actively participate in knowledge transferHas taken formal Machine Processing TrainingProficient in start-up of Hot RunnersHas taken Injection Molding continuing ed classes per requiredCompetencies:Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner;
