Golden Helix is a leader in genetic software tools and services. Were known for developing high-end genetic analytics to enable and empower the genetics research and enabling precision medicine through clinical genomics. Our business is growing, creating the need to expand our team.

We are looking for a self-motivated Product Development Engineer who is smart and can get things done. If you have experience in algorithms and performance-oriented code and are looking to work in a cutting-edge healthcare market developing kick-ass software as part of a great team, this could be the right job for you.

Job Description

As a member of our product development team, you will work under the guidance of the VP of Product & Engineering and our Director of Research to convert designs and specifications into computer code for both our server and desktop based clinical interpretation products (VSWarehouse and VarSeq). You will also have the opportunity to learn about genetics, interface with other roles inside the company, write documentation and help troubleshoot bugs.

This is a full-time position opportunity for experienced professionals, with flexibility for students working towards their Masters or PhD to work an average of 20 hours a week during the school year (optionally more).

Requirements

Masters & PhD Computer Science education with the ability to self-manage projects and turn specifications into solutions.

C or Java experience writing performance critical code or complex algorithms

Data science experience doing data wrangling, statistical modeling and ML desired

Python and JavaScript (ES6, TypeScript) experience highly desired.

Experience with web front-end stacks, databases and Linux administration desired but not required.

Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.

Self-directed and able to work well independently.

Background in mathematics and/or life sciences a plus.
