Qualifications:
Must have a valid teacher certification in Secondary Science, or demonstrate highly qualified education and experience in the field, as well as hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. At least two years of prior science teaching preferred with experience with high school level content. Our ideal candidates are energetic, self-motivated teachers who are committed to academic excellence and character development. Creativity and innovative ideas are embraced and encouraged. A candidate must have a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively with all members of the school community including families, students, and staff.
Job involves collaborating to integrate science into middle school theme-based units (place-based, project-based, citizen science), supporting high school students in their online science curriculum, and teaching STEM/Makerspace labs to elementary-middle school students, with the possibility of an afterschool program development.
Position requires a demonstrated ability to:
● Facilitate student learning across grade levels
● Create and teach relevant, integrated, place and project-based middle school science
● Create and teach STEM/Makerspace classes for elementary through middle school students.
● Work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff
● Teach using our preferred online, accredited high school program to support student learning
● Support students in pacing, progress, goal setting, study skills, and understanding of material
● Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with students and parents about progress.
