Instructional Aide Position

1. EMPLOYMENT: The School employs the Instructional Aide and the Instructional Aide agrees to be employed as the Instructional Aide and agrees to fulfill the responsibilities of such position as described herein for the period of time commencing August 10th, 2020 and ending June 11th, 2021 (the "Term"), unless sooner terminated, as hereinafter provided.

a. It is further mutually agreed that this position is probationary. The School shall offer the Instructional Aide a new contract of employment for the ensuing year on or before May 15, 2021, unless the School gives the Instructional Aide notice of its intention not to re-employ the Instructional Aide on or before May 1, 2021.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND PURPOSE OF THE INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE: The primary purpose of the Instructional Aide is to assist the Teacher in the implementation of the multi-sensory curriculum; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary education in accordance with each student's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

The Instructional Aide’s responsibilities include, without limitation by the specification thereof, the following:

● Work closely with the lead teacher to identify issues students are having and assist team in developing appropriate solutions.

● Treats all matters in a confidential manner.

● Is flexible and passionate about working with children that have learning challenges.

● Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.

● Communicates with teachers and other personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing ISP objectives.

● Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans (e.g. reading, math, language comprehension, writing, computer, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.

● Maintains classroom equipment and work area for the purpose of ensuring availability of a safe learning environment and/or meeting mandated requirements.

● Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. playgrounds, hallways, cafeteria, assemblies, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

● Promotes good study habits and student independence for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.

● Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and

group activities (e.g. self esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of student deficiencies and ensuring student’s success.

● Implements under the supervision of assigned teacher, behavioral plans designed by ISP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.

● Models conversation, manners, clean up activities, listening, and everyday interactions for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.

3. QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working with teacher collaboratively in classroom.

Experience working with students with learning disabilities.

Will require fingerprinting and background check

Associate degree in Education or related field

4. COMPENSATION: As a consideration for all services to be rendered, the School shall compensate the Instructional Aide as follows:

a. Hourly wage of $16.50 for no more than 30 hours per week from August 7, 2019 until June 12, 2020. Hours are M-Th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

b. HEALTH INSURANCE: Cottonwood Day School shall pay fifty (50) percent of the single insurance cost required to make such health benefits available to staff. Effective Jan 1, 2017, the School shall pay 50% of the single health insurance premiums for full-time teachers. Employee is responsible to cover 100% of the costs of spouse and children should they elect that coverage.

5. EVALUATION: In March of each year during the term, or more frequently upon the mutual agreement of the Parties, the Director shall evaluate the performance of the Instructional Aide based on the responsibilities set forth herein and such other criteria as may be developed mutually between the Parties. The evaluation will be reviewed by the Director of the School, and practical goals and objectives for the succeeding year will be determined.
