COOK/KITCHEN VO-TECH INSTRUCTOR
COOKING/KITCHEN RESPONSIBILITIES
Work under direct supervision of Food Service Manager (Head Cook).
Work with and be responsible for holding boys accountable.
Teach boys lesson for meal under supervision of Head Cook.
Enforce consequences, understand rules, consequences, policies, and the basis for them.
Work within time schedule.
Fruit, meat and vegetables need to be at each meal. Lettuce needs to be used when available. Use fresh foods that come in (carrots, celery, etc.)
Be objective and fair. Dont show favoritism. No special treats for boys working in the kitchen when other boys do not have opportunity for the same treat (i.e. drinks, snacks)
Boys must do last meal of the month and learn one new skill each day.
Organize and participate with clean up chores after lunch and supper.
Cook fresh meals (no pre-cooking for next day unless in crisis).
Dont give food to staff (unless directed by Head Cook or Ken).
Shut off gym, heater room lights when leave; shut and lock doors.
Always be aware of and use safety precautions that would eliminate or reduce accidents.
REQUIREMENTS
Willing and able to work with troubled boys
Be at least 21 years of age
Have a high school diploma or GED
