DescriptionDo you want to work as a Controller? Robert Half Finance has a current opening for a reputable services company you don't want to miss. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Kansas City, Missouri region.Your responsibilities in this role

Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team

Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

Requirements

Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing

Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

CPA or MBA preferred

Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

Self-starter and strong ethical standards

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills

Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

Proven knowledge of Treasury Management

Equipment Inventory experience preferred

Foundational knowledge in Sales Tax

Experience with Corporate Tax

General ledger experience desired

Deep understanding of Payroll Taxes
