Project Manager – FoundryKelly Government Services is seeking a talented Project Manager for our client, the US Naval Marine foundry, has an immediate opening for a Project Manager in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The ideal candidate will be a metallurgist with project management experience and a strong desire to roll up their sleeves and work on the floor. This is a boots on the ground position!This is an 12-18 month contract role for Metallurgy and Project Management support for site in Pascagoula, MS. with the upcoming enhancements to the foundry. This includes a new heat treat oven with quench tank for stainless steel castings, new centrifugal caster for nickel aluminum bronze castings, improved process control of the current Stainless Steel and Nickel aluminum bronze processes, develop methods for new processes and technology with research and development. Project manage the procurement, installation, start up and approval of new technology and equipment.PROJECT DETAILS
Purchase and commission heat treat oven and quench tank to support 35T pour capacity of electric induction furnaces
Purchase a new ladle for pouring stainless steel
Purchase new tooling for the production of LCS impellers and stators
Purchase and commission centrifugal caster capable of producing a DDG51 class Hub and simulation software to support
Purchase tooling for various class ship hubs that will be produced on the centrifugal caster
Purchase DDG51 Blade Flasks
Refurbish the current sand silo to ensure quality product for the above technology
Establish baseline PFMEA and Control plans for both Stainless Steel and Nickel Aluminum Bronze processes
Project management timeline to manage activities and milestones

Casting qualifications of LCS class steerable stator
Casting qualifications of DDG51 hub
Small scale demonstration for R&D purposes for heated riser technology
Small scale demonstration for R&D of Flux additive (ALBRAL) effects on NAB castings.
TECHNICAL INFORMATIONDuplex Stainless Steel: CD3MN, ASTM A890 Grade 4A. Estimated pour weight 27,000 and casting weight of 15,500 poundsREQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical engineering or related discipline
6-10 years similar work experience
Proven experience in Project Management roles
Strong experience and knowledge of foundry/metal/steel industry and purchasing
Experience with PFMEA and Control plans, Auto CAD
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Metallurgist with project management experience highly desired
Working experience with large and heavy castings of NAB or duplex stainless steel alloys desirable.
Knowledge of steel heat treatment practices desirable
Experience with centrifugal casting desirable
Experience with MAGMA or Flow level experience a plus
Ability to obtain DoD confidential level experience
