Located in Dearborn, MI, the Glass Academy (GA)—a premier destination for artisan Art-glass products, specialty commissioned work, and novice glassblowing education—seeks a Gallery Manager and Sales Representative.

The Gallery Manager and Sales Representative plays a central role between the production of GA products and the in-studio and online positioning of GA products with the single goal of increasing revenues. The Gallery Manager and Sales Representative accomplishes this role by – monitoring the display of GA products in-studio and online; communicating commissioned products accurately and within deadline to production staff; promoting GA and its product/service lines (i.e., in-studio classes) through repeat sales and customer acquisition along with other means; and, continuing to brand GA as a premier tourist destination for artisan Art-glass products, services, and events.

The ideal candidate will have – experience in selling original artwork; knowledge of customer sales and retention; wholesale buying experience; and, an ability to communicate well with all members within the enterprise, especially production and online/social media support personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the mission of GA as a premier destination for artisan glass-art products, commissioned work, and glassblowing education.

Exhibit an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence with the goal of repeat sales.

Ensure the GA in-factory gallery is kept orderly and clean and that both the in-studio and on-line galleries are well-stocked with products that showcase GA’s talent.

Support the Artistic Director when introducing new products or promotions to extend the GA brand and that meet or anticipate customer demands, with the goal of increasing revenues.

Complete customer order forms and requests neatly and completely and communicate such requests to the GA production team accurately with attention to deadlines.

Greet and direct customers and respond to customer requests for information, forwarding such inquiries, when necessary, to appropriate GA staff.

Forward sales invoices to GA’s finance personnel and follow up on next payments.

Represent GA, when called upon and available, during off-site public events, trade shows, and promotional opportunities.

Open and close the studio factory as necessary along with other assigned tasks.

Perform other general gallery duties as assigned by the Artistic Director.

Set an example as a professional by observing work start/stop times, giving adequate notice for absences, and following GA’s operational and personnel policies and procedures.

Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least three (3) years in representing or selling original artwork in a gallery or production facility

Wholesale buying and purchasing experience at trade shows

Demonstrated experience in the nuance of selling premium, one-of-a-kind, artistic products

Competence in the use of GA’s enterprise software

Deadline-driven with attention to detail and quality

Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented

Entrepreneurial team player

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for the GA mission

Knowledge of the craft of glassblowing not necessary

Team player with win/win/win mindset
