Responsible, under the direction of the Director of Nursing, for nursing care to patients within an assigned unit.
Oversees charge nurses to assure all vital signs are taken and recorded.
Is knowledgeable of patients’ conditions at all times and supervises nursing care according to physician’s orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards and administrative policies.
Supervises medication pass as prescribed by physician and follow through on any reactions.
Is able to recognize and interpret symptoms, report on patients’ conditions, and assist with or institute remedial measures for adverse developments.
Assists physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic measures through nursing assessment and administers medications and treatments as prescribed.
Responsible for supervising all nursing personnel during designated shift and seeing that they perform as expected.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited, approved school of nursing. Current RN registration with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Will receive in-service training in special areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Good physical and mental health. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment. Visual and auditory acuity to detect changes in patients' conditions. Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of fifty (50) lbs. Must be able to push and pull carts at a minimum of one hundred (100) lbs., and continuously walk, sit and stand. Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height as tasks dictate. Must use good body mechanics.
