Job DescriptionPosition Title: Healthy Living Team MemberPosition Function: Wellness Center Support, Personal TrainingQUALITIES NEEDED FOR THIS POSTION:

Must be reliable, flexible and adaptable.

Applicant must have good communication skills and possess the ability to provide excellent customer service to members and guests. Experience

Skilled in working with people, and the ability to articulate the connections to the programs and services the YMCA offers that will help connect the members toward success.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:

Deliver a comprehensive health, wellness and engagement approach for children, youth, teens, adults, and special populations.

Engagement and connection with members, and connections through e-mail and phone engagement skills,

Delivery of Fitness orientations, assessments, classes, and sessions.

Assist and support annual Road Race and special events.

Participate in staff meetings, and professional training as appropriate.

Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA’s mission and goals.

Act as a role model and incorporate character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into the daily operation of the fitness department.

Assume other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW:¨ Understand the relationship of the general public to the association, of staff to volunteer, and of staff to staff, and be able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.¨ Ability to interpret, carry out and implement into programs, the mission and goals of the YMCA.¨ Ability to supervise staff and volunteers while actively handling a variety of functions at the same time.¨ Work as an integral member of a staff team.¨ Ability to communicate effectively with adults, youth, teens, seniors and special populations.¨ Computer literate.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. ¨ Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.¨ At times, be able to lift amounts up to 50 lbs.WORK ENVIRONMENT:¨ The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.¨ Ability to be flexible to work evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays.$12-13 per hour Wellness Support$20-40 per hour for personal training services$20-40 per hour of group exercise instructionYMCA CompetenciesMission Advancement: Models and teaches the Y’s values. Degree in Exercise Science or Physical Education

ACE,AFAA,FRA,NSCF,ACSM or another nationally accredited personal trainer certification

CPR/AED and First Aid certifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, or a related field from an accredited college or university

Preferred: years of experience in health & wellness settings

Experience in personal training, and health and wellness programming
