TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Learning Ecosystems Accelerator for Patient-centered, Sustainable Innovation (LEAPS), to participate in the design and execution of a research protocol to extract a cohort of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and subgroups as appropriate; tabulate, summarize and analyse the Massachusetts All-Payers Claims Database (APCD) RA extract to support ongoing research efforts of the LEAPS modelling and simulation team; work with other LEAPS project research personnel to develop appropriate analytical cohorts based on claims continuity and disease stage (e.g. initiation on methotrexate or ongoing therapy); analyse clinical and demographic characteristics of RA patients and distribution of treatment utilization overall, by major payer entity, provider type and over time; determine patterns of utilization by therapy, including duration of therapy, changes in dosage, and treatment holidays; examine prescribing patterns across provider types, geographic distribution and compare with treatment guidelines; perform other duties assigned. MIT NEW Drug Development ParadIGmS (NEWDIGS) is an international “think and do tank” dedicated to delivering more value faster to patients in ways that work for all stakeholders. The Learning Ecosystems Accelerator for Patient-centered, Sustainable Innovation (LEAPS) Project is advancing the mission of the MIT NEWDIGS consortium through a new collaborative systems approach to the planning, generation, and use of evidence across R&D and healthcare delivery.Job RequirementsREQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Informatics or similar discipline (Master’s Degree in Health Care Analytics, Informatics, or similar discipline preferred); at least 2 years’ experience working with large healthcare data sets; Experience in programming (e.g. SAS, Python, R, SQL, Postgres) and working with big data; Experience in standardizing complex datasets; Data cleaning and transformation; Familiarity with basic statistical modelling; Good documentation skills; Attention to detail; Good communications skills. Experience working with healthcare claims data; Experience with cloud-based and server less application environments; Experience with Rheumatoid Arthritis or related diseases; Knowledge of the US Healthcare system preferred.
