Assignment is part-time (approximately 20 hours/week).This is a long-term contract position which offers:

Independently design and conduct research experiments focused on elucidating the neural circuitry of color vision, with special emphasis on identifying homologies between humans and nonhuman primates.

Employ a variety of techniques including psychophysics, computational modeling, microstimulation, pharmacological blockade and anatomical methods for assessing connectivity.

Analyze experimental results and complex datasets from various sources; maintain data and human subject confidentiality.

Document methodological approaches to data analyses performed, including detailed procedures and rationales.

Provide advice and assistance to NEI and other staff; provide support to the overall goals of the Laboratory of Sensorimotor Research (LSR) by assisting in various projects in collaboration with senior research staff.

Prepare data and analysis for presentation to staff and for publication.

Stay informed about the current developments in the field of visual/oculomotor system research.

Train Ph.D. students and junior postdoctoral fellows in experimental techniques and the field of Color Perception.

REQUIREMENTS . The contractor must have:

Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related discipline.

Minimum of eleven (11) years of related experience.

Experience working with Non-human Primates (macaque).

Experience in the evaluation of statistical methods for the analysis of statistical data.

Experience in the development of new statistical methods for application to specific problems.

Experience with the statistical research studies in basic mathematical and statistical theory and analytical, computational and graphical methods to improve the efficiency and quality of data systems.

Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
