Summary/Objective
The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with company leadership, team members and clients. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, data entry, processing, employee relations, training, performance management, on-boarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.
Essential Functions
Maintains human resource information system records, data entry, new hire paperwork, change forms, enrollments, terminations, compiles reports from the database.
Utilizes HRIS system daily (Ulti-Pro)
Administers various human resource plans and procedures; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains client employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
Files EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
Creates Employee Handbooks; revises; updates according to regulataory and policy changes
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends client meetings.
Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
Competencies
Data entry experience; HRIS
Experience in writing policy, handbooks, reporting, gathering data
Strong ability with numbers and calculations
Knowledge of employment laws (including FLSA, FMLA), recruiting procedures, compensation practices, personnel reporting and record keeping as well as employee relations required
Knowledge of benefits administration strongly desired
Must have proficiency working with the web, databases and spreadsheets, as well as word processing and electronic mail
Strong consulting and negotiation skills needed to be able to provide appropriate counsel and advise
Must have the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing and to work collaboratively with others both within the company and externally with the client
Creativity and resourcefulness needed to be able to handle various HR issues and concerns effectively while maintaining confidentiality
Ability to problem solve and resolve conflict
Ability to research, analyze and interpret data
Ability to anticipate needs and follow through
Must demonstrate good judgment, strong initiative and energy as well as a cooperative spirit
Work Environment
This job operates remotely with some local travel from time to time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, copiers and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are flexible. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Travel
Some local, limited travel may be expected for this position.
Education and Experience
1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Human Resource Development, or Business Administration, or related field, and three to five years of Generalist experience.
2. SHRM Certified Professional credential PHR preferred
3. Experience in a consulting environment a PLUS!
4. At least 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience in an office or consulting environment required.
