Job Description - Level 2 NOC Engineer

The Level 2 NOC Technician performs
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for flawless deployment and ongoing support of all network infrastructure including core and edge routers, firewalls, load-balancers, switches, DWDM systems, and any other related network infrastructure.
  • Work alongside other ops team members to stand up new racks, configure switches, run cables as necessary, and provide local support for network issues.
  • Provide support to the sales and customer engagement team for customer related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues as they arise.
  • Physically install category 6, fiber optic and other low voltage cabling systems.
  • Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and termination including organizing, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
  • Terminate, assemble and install modular jacks, coaxial connectors, fiber optic connectors and various other connectors.
  • Accurately test copper and fiber cables to required certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment.
  • Diagnose and correct copper and optical fiber problems.
  • Install security cameras, field devices and access control systems.
  • Install audio-visual systems including hanging TV's, installing speakers, devices and head-end equipment.
  • Removal and demolition of abandoned cables.
  • Understanding of WiFi/Wimax technology a plus.
  • Testing/Troubleshooting network issues (Connectivity, other Low Voltage Cable associated issues)
  • Terminating Cat 5/5e/6/7 Voice Data Cable into: Jacks, 66-110 Blocks, and Patch Panels
  • Wireless Access Point (WAP), wireless router (RUKUS), and roof mounted antenna
  • Install equipment grounding and bonding systems as per standards.
  • Attend training and safety meetings. Work safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices to other technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Education: College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 5 or more years working on large scale service provider networks.
  • Network hardware: Juniper MX QFX EX, Arista, Firewall appliances, Array networks or other load-balancing hardware, Infinera or other DWDM systems.
  • Network protocols/technologies: BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, OSPF, IPv4/6, MST/PVST, and many others.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with local marketplace, companies and the community within the assigned region.
  • A strong understanding of customer service.
  • Must be self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Certifications: CCNP, CCDP, JNCIE, JNCP, ACE-A or other industry certifications
